IN THIS EPISODE:
Welcome to The Ladies Dish Podcast!

Catching Up: (01:08)
An episode all about PMS!  I think this will go down in the books as one of our favorites…but of course, time will tell.  For now – it’s top of the list. Enjoy!

Get to Know the Ladies - Question of the Week (1:55):

Sticking with the PMS theme…share a food that you crave around your time of the month.
Kate is loving salty foods. Right now she’s all about Jackson’s Honest Chips - all the time, no matter the time of month! Have you tried them?

Joy & Dana both love chocolate/sweets! Dana’s favorite right now is Endangered Species’ Hazelnut Toffee Chocolate Bar – help the animals, help yo’self! Win, win.

What’s Cooking? (4:00):

Dana shares her version of the Brittany Angell PMS Brownies recipe! Here's Dana's version - you will DEFINITELY want to make these! Be sure to check out Brittany’s site and book, Every Last Crumb, too – she’s a magician in the kitchen when it comes to allergy-free baking and cooking! (She also has awesome hair. Just sayin’!)

ALL ABOUT PMS (7:06)

No one loves it – this is because it’s pretty terrible. There’s mood swings, cramping, cravings and more.

Joy, Dana and Kate all share their own PMS stories with you. We’ve been there – we know what it’s like! But our goal is to help you rid your body of these shackles and start living every day feeling great, even when Aunt Flo does come for a visit!

If you’re interested in trying out a phone app to track your cycles, here’s what the ladies use:
Kate uses Period Dairy
Dana uses Ovia

Listener Questions

1. Vicious mood swings!  How to avoid them or make them less severe? (28:54)

PMS is common, but NOT normal.

We share a lot of diet/lifestyle tips as well as supplement suggestions to help rebalance your hormones.
We love this guide from Megan Rand of Ginger Newtrition: Toxic Home Makeover Guide
Magnesium – this is a big one because everyone needs it! Check out Kate’s recipe for magnesium gummies for a fun way to get a hit of magnesium!

2. Why do I consistently get a migraine on the first 2 days of my cycle and how can I change this? (52:11)

3. Why are some months so much worse than other months?  I can have a month of light flow/no cramps and then the next month could be like bombs going off in my stomach and it’s the WORST and I can never predict how its gonna be.” (55:28)

4. Why do I get so tired and how can I combat that? (57:53)

Kate shared a bit from this article from Mind Body Green: 5 Signs You Have a Healthy Menstrual Cycle. Have a read.

If you have tried all the diet and lifestyle suggestions and are STILL struggling with PMS symptoms and whacky hormone regulation, get some testing done and dig a little deeper to find out the root cause of your issues! It’s no way to live!
Here’s some resources for where you can go to get testing:
Hormone testing: Find a RWS practitioner or FDN practitioner
HTMA testing: Work with Joy!
