5.30.16: Practice Gratitude

Holidays on Mondays are best <3 A shorter work week and lots of yummy food! Remember to be grateful about WHY we observe Memorial Day.

This week's mantra is inspired by much that I learned over Paleo FX weekend....practice gratitude!

Many people think of "Paleo" as just a "diet" or a "way of eating." I'll debunk this in a later post.

In reality, paleo or the movement in general encompasses an entire way of living...including movement, sleep, stress, meditation and happiness.

One message that came up in a few panels/talks I attended was gratitude.

Clearly a message I've been preaching about for a while already.

As I write this, I'm looking at my coffee cup that has a message around the rim "I am grateful for..." I make an effort to practice gratitude in my life consistently.

One action step suggested was to wake up and think of 3 things you are grateful for. It sets your mind up to see the positive for the rest of the day and it makes your heart feel full and satisfied.

But you can't just THINK it, you need to see it.

So whether you write it in a journal, on a sticky pad, in your planner, or even on the notes in your phone, just do it. Figure out what works for you.

Keep a notebook and pen by your bed or your computer. If you reach for your phone first thing in the AM, set a second alarm (if needed) to write your 3 things.

In the beginning, you'll have to think about doing it. It'll feel a little unnatural and you may miss a day here or there, but soon it'll become part of your routine (like washing your face and brushing your teeth) and watch how it can improve your life.
