6.13.16: I am Enough

“Wholeheartedness. There are many tenets of Wholeheartedness, but at its very core is vulnerability and worthiness; facing uncertainty, exposure, and emotional risks, and knowing that I am enough.” ― Brené Brown, Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead

I'm writing from Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH. The little town I've been going to every summer since I was a baby, which makes my heart happy.

It's only about a 2 1/2 hour drive from our PA home and I was happy to listen to some of my audio books that I've been pushing to the back burner, for whatever reason!

I turned on DARING GREATLY by Brene Brown to start and had several a-ha moments.

I'm not far into the book, but I listened to the first portion that discussed the mindset of scarcity. I loved the part where she said we set ourselves up for a mindset of scarcity from the start of the day when we wake up and immediate think...

"Ugh, I didn't get enough sleep" which very quickly turns into "Ugh, I don't have enough time."

Our thoughts set us for the ENTIRE day. This is why my gratitude and journaling practice has been so LIFE-CHANGING and here I am urging you to do it again.

You can wake up and start by saying you don't have enough ______, or you can wake up and realize ALL you have to be grateful for...guess what will happen the rest of the day?

But I loved another point she made...she talked about how many people say the opposite of scarcity is abundance...but she disagreed. She said she thought the opposite of scarcity is ENOUGH.

I paused the book at that time and sat there driving down the highway thinking how right that felt.

ENOUGH. Feeling ENOUGH.

It really resonated with me. And in that moment, ENOUGH became one of my newest Core Desired Feelings (tune into The Ladies Dish Podcast on June 28th to hear more about this concept!)

So that's how I want to start this week. Thinking I AM ENOUGH.

[and you are enough ;P]

Happy Monday!

xx, kate
