1. What do you do when more and more food intolerances keep appearing? Is it all in my head? I did an elimination diet a while ago and tried to add the foods back one by one, realizing I couldn't eat any of them. I feel like I have a shorter list of foods I CAN eat. Will I just keep developing more and more allergies until I'm down to nothing to eat? Is it possible to reverse food intolerances?” (7:40)
Go back and listen to our leaky gut episode 18! The good news is that it’s absolutely possible to reverse food intolerances. Right now, your gut lining is pretty damaged from probably years of eating foods that you have intolerances to, excess stress, medications, and more. You can get food allergy testing done, but we do recommend working with a professional to help you with your specific concern and symptoms.
Don’t forget the 4R Protocol when trying to heal your gut: 1. Remove 2. Repair 3. Reinoculate 4. Reintroduce

2. I'd love to hear more about healthy portion sizes with healthy food. I find myself eating all the fruit now that's it’s all so delicious and in season. (17:11)
If you put fruit in the context of our ancestors, we were probably only exposed to this delicious treat a couple months out of the year… typically when there was a lot of sunshine.
Our bodies are actually designed to crave carbs & be in storage mode when we are exposed to more sunlight… because we are getting ready for the famine, or the winter months to follow!
Kate recommends 1-2 pieces of fruit a day, for the micros and fiber, but to avoid any sugar irregularities.

3. I thought Grade B maple syrup was the best choice, but now I can’t find it. What happened?! (27:06)
In 2014 labeling of maple syrup started to change and was fully complete sometime last year. Now, all varieties are labeled Grade A with the color differences. See the graphic below; you’ll find Grade B is now labeled Grade A Dark with Robust Taste.
All varieties of maple syrup are actually processed the exact same way. In fact, from a single vat of syrup, producers can create all four varieties. The thing about the darker colored varieties is that they are richer, more complex and contain more minerals. So I always recommend going for the darker colored syrup - and make sure you are purchasing real maple syrup. Not just a bottle that says “syrup” and is actually filled with high fructose corn syrup!
