Here's something I can assure you... I never thought I would put makeup-less, unfilitered photos of myself on the internet...
Much less, not clean hair, in a robe, makeup-less, unfiltered photos. But one thing I've learned with this little one, I have to maximize every moment I get alone and since I haven't much time to blog lately, I took advantage of this mornings nap.
FAQ: "What's the difference between the Tint Skin Foundation and the Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer?"
Valid question and with summertime approaching, it seems like I'm getting this question even more frequently... so I wanted to put my thoughts in a comprehensive post!
I also switched out foundation as one of my first "cleaner swap" products since it is something applied directly to my skin that is no doubt absorbed throughout the day.
I want to note here: the first time I tried the dew skin, I didn't like it... but looking back, I realized I was still really struggling with acne/break-outs and dry skin. I needed to FIRST work on my natural skin through the skin care line, and now I LOVE the Dew Skin - in fact, it's what I wear majority of the time (more on that later)...
I'll briefly explain each individual product and then do a small comparison.
Tint Skin Foundation
Tint Skin is Beautycounter's hydrating, liquid light-to-medium coverage foundation that is available in 10 different shades. It's one of our best-selling products.
Special Ingredients: Sodium hyaluronate is a a natural moisture magnet that promotes smoother-looking skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also contains hyaluronic acid, which supports skin’s water retention and nutrient absorption, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Coverage: Simple layer up because the TS is buildable (meaning you can put on a layer, let it dry, and add another layer for more coverage). It also depends on how you apply. If you use Beautycounter's Foundation Brush (pictured above in blue), it will be a light application. If you use Beautycounter's flat complexion brush (which I actually use for masks) or a Blender Sponge (I use Mikasa's Lemon Drop Makeup Sponge, pictured above), you'll get more coverage.
Most people with oily skin are terrified to use a liquid foundation, which I totally understand! There are few options here to "set" the foundation: Beautycounter's matte bronzer or mattifying powder!
My favorite way to order this product is through the Flawless in Five set, which includes all of the products you need to create a beautiful look in 5 minutes or less!
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer
The Dew Skin is a tinted moisturizer with SPF 20 that leaves the skin glowing and dewy. It's available in 5 shades and was awarded a "Best of Beauty" product by Allure.
Special Ingredients: Black currant, peony flower root extract, and vitamin C reduce the appearance of age spots and enhance skin brightness, while sodium hyaluronate promotes firmer, smoother-looking skin.
Coverage: This is truly a tinted moisturizer, so it is not designed to "coverup" or mask blemishes.
Tint Skin vs. Dew Skin
Now that you know more about each product, you may be able to tell the big differences:
* Tint Skin offers more coverage and a creamy appearance, but no SPF.
* Dew Skin offers SPF and a natural glow, but not as much coverage.
Here's a picture I took using the Tint Skin and the Dew Skin separately. You can see on the left with the Tint Skin, my freckles and blemishes are covered more than with the Dew Skin, however both helped the tone and evenness of my skin coloring. I wear the color Linen for the foundation (and Sand during the summer months) and No 2 for the Dew Skin.
This is also the biodegradable Beautycounter Makeup Remover Wipe I used to remove the foundation and moisturizer after the pictures so you could see how little you actually need! These tubes last forever and I'm recently obsessed with these new wipes.
What do I use?
Majority of my days (especially since I'm at home), I wear the Dew Skin in No 2.
If we have a special event, or I have blemishes or need to go into the office, I'll either wear just the Tint Skin in Linen or apply both: Dew Skin underneath with the Tint Skin overtop.
